Requirements and guidelines for course evaluation and course development
There are certain requirements and guidelines, both from KTH and legislation, that concern course evaluation and course analysis. Most requirements are automatically fulfilled through the automatic course surveys in Canvas, but you need to actively write a course analysis to fulfil KTH's guidelines and the legal requirements.
KTH's guidelines on course evaluation and course analysis
Here you can see the guidelines KTH has developed for course evaluation and course analysis. The guidelines are currently under review and will be revised shortly.
Please note that the guidelines are only available in Swedish.

Legal requirements from the Higher Education Ordinance
Chapter 1, section 14 of the Higher Education Ordinance regulates the university's responsibility for conducting course evaluations and course analyses. The automated course surveys in Canvas fulfil the legal requirements in that students always have the opportunity to give their views on the course, but you also need to write the course analysis as it contains information on measures to develop the course further.
- Higher education institutions shall enable students who are participating in or have completed a course to express their experiences of and views on the course through a course evaluation to be organised by the higher education institution.
- The higher education institution shall collate the course evaluations and provide information about their results and any actions prompted by the course evaluations. The results shall be made available to the students. Ordinance (2000:651)
