Dear all,
This week some of us met at the “Storträff”, the twice-annual internal KTH conference focused on teaching and education. It was interesting to hear about upcoming changes and challenges. I joined two round-table discussions, one JML-related and one focusing on proposing new educational training courses for KTH faculty.
Yesterday we submitted our budget proposal for 2024. A lot of changes were made last minute, KTH decided to lower the internal cost for teaching facilities. We expect to receive more funding for teaching, based on the new distribution model, but that the costs will increase due to the inflation etc. All in all, we have a negative budget, which is based on the increased costs, but much lesser than we anticipated, so we expect the budget to be approved anyway and that we will have the freedom 2024 to open up positions and do our business as usual.
On Wednesday we celebrated with the Mechatronics group; the annual unit dinner, including several retired colleagues, celebration of recent achievements etc. We celebrated that Fredrik Asplund has been promoted to associate professor (congratulations!) among other things.
Next week we look forward to celebrate again, two colleagues that have turned 60, please join on Wednesday. Now I wish all a nice weekend.
Best,
Martin
